Drive. Driving. Driven...

Have you ever just got in your car and just went for a drive? You weren't aiming for any place in particular, but you just wanted to get away for a little while. Well, I do this quite often, especially in the summer when I can ride with the windows down. Sometimes I drive at night and I know that sounds scary, but it's not! Sometimes I don't even turn my radio on. I just drive. In the stillness of the night. I just drive. This is the place where I am most myself. There is no one around, no one is looking at me, asking me questions, talking to me, there is just me and God. Some of my deepest prayers come when I am in my car. I am honest and sometimes, when there is a pain that is so raw that I can't stand it, it's like God takes it and lets it just fly out the window.

BUT, the greatest thing about the drive is, whether it be 5 minutes or around the world in one night, I always return hommme. After I am cried out, driven out, or just tired, coming home has more of a comfort than it did before.

It's almost the same way with God. When I get off the track that He has set before me and all I want to do is drive away from what He says is best, coming home is the greatest feeling. When I realize my pain is temporary and that I will not go alone...I come home! I come home and get the best treatment that anyone could ever ask. He doesn't yell at me or demand that I make up for what I have done wrong, but He holds me and loves me. He rejoices that I have come back into the fold where I belong.

I am certain that I will have more storms in my life, but the best part is reaching Home!

"But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry." Luke 15:22-24

Homesick and Hungry..

Have you ever just been "homesick" for the arms of Jesus and "hungry" for His word? That was exactly the way that I was feeling this past week. I know that my Jesus is never far away. He said that he would never leave nor forsake me, but it has been me who has been distant.

"Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
--Hebrews 13:5
"And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
--Deuteronomy 31:8

I have been looking at God's word through a book by Randy Alcorn, "The Grace and Truth Paradox" it is a short little book that has helped me to see things in a greater light. God's grace is so amazing to me and I cannot even begin to tell you how much I have needed it lately. As much as I have needed Grace, I have needed Truth that much more. Not only truth about the difficult times I have been experiencing, but the Truth about myself and what God has to say about it. Unfortunately, some of the things that I discovered about me did not bring a smile to my face, but shame and burden to my heart. The upside to this is that I was able to bring that all to God, ask forgiveness, and hear Him say....

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yolk is easy and My burden is light." --Matthew 11:29-30

I hope that if you are having a hard time this week that you will MAKE the time to take it before the Lord and have Him handle it for you. He never meant for you to go it alone, He wants to handle it all for you! He loves you!

May the Lord bless you beyond measure this week!

A girl and the love of God

My name is Hanna and I am in college to become a teacher. One of my friends and mentors has a blog on here and it has really inspired me to start one also.
The purpose behind this is blog is to possibly be a blessing to someone who might be encountering some of the same things in their life, that I am in mine. I hope that I am able to reach people that I might not ever meet or just old friends. I am trying to be in a constant state of growth in my relationship with my Lord Jesus.

I am just a (soon-to-be) teacher who is trying to be taught by the Lord. I hope that you will glean from what the Lord leads me to share with you through my blog. Thanks for checking it out!

His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning."
--Psalm 30:5
